6 Easy Pasta Sauces
Pasta is a favored meal in many households, topped with a simple sauce in combination with vegetables, fish, meat and cheese. Given below are some mouthwatering sauces that can be tossed with your favorite precooked pasta and vegetables and chicken, meats or seafood.
1.Spinach Sauce
Ingredients
- 45 gms butter
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 375 ml cream
- 125 gms Parmesan cheese grated
- 185 gms chopped and cooked spinach
- A tsp crushed red chilies
Method
- In a saucepan, melt the butter, add the garlic and cook for two minutes until brown.
- Add the cream and Parmesan cheese, stir until smooth. Cook, stirring over a low heat.
- Add the spinach to the cream mixture. Once blended, take off the flame.
- Immediately toss with cooked pasta and top with crushed red chilies.
2.Alfredo Sauce
Ingredients
- 100 gms butter
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Salt and freshly ground pepper
- 2 cups of freshly grated Parmesan Cheese
Method
- In a pan, heat the butter.
- Add the cream. Season with salt and pepper.
- Add the Parmesan cheese and cook until the cheese is melted.
- Toss with the cooked pasta of your choice.
3.Marinara Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 & ½ tsp minced garlic
- ½ cup good red wine
- 800 ml can of crushed tomato puree
- 1 tbsp parsley
- 1& ½ tsp Kosher salt
- ½ tsp freshly ground pepper
Method
- Heat the olive oil in a pan.
- Add the onions and sauté until translucent.
- Add the garlic and cook for a minute.
- Add the wine and cook on a high flame until all the liquid evaporates.
- Add the tomatoes, parsley, salt and pepper.
- Cover and simmer on low heat for 15 minutes.
- Tomato Vodka Sauce
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic chopped finely
- ½ cup onion chopped
- ¼ cup vodka
- 1 can 800 ml tomatoes with liquid
- ¼ cup cream
- 1 tbsp fresh oregano chopped.
- Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste.
Method
- In a pan, heat the olive oil and sauté the garlic and onion and cook for a minute.
- Add the vodka and cook until it has evaporated completely.
- Add the tomatoes and reduce until the sauce thickens.
- Add the cream, oregano, salt and pepper.
- Serve with cooked pasta.
- Mushroom Cream Sauce
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 garlic cloves chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 150 gms button mushrooms finely sliced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ an onion finely chopped
Method
- Melt the butter in a pan.
- Add the garlic and sauté. Season with salt and pepper
- Add the onion and mushroom and cook for 5 minutes.
- Pour in the cream on a slow heat.
- When the sauce is smooth, remove from the heat.
- Saffron Cream Sauce
Ingredients
- ¼ cup spring onions sliced thinly
- 2 cloves garlic chopped
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup cream
- 1 pinch saffron
- 225 gms cheddar cheese
- 55 gms hazelnuts toasted and chopped
- Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
Method
- In a saucepan, sauté the onions and garlic in olive oil for a minute.
- Add the cream and saffron and cook for 2 minutes.
- Add the cheese and simmer until the cheese melts.
- Add the seasoning and nuts.
- Serve with cooked pasta
