What Jewelry Should You Wear for an Interview
Landing that interview for your dream job is the hard part! Now that you are just a few formalities away from your career ever after make sure you nail that job interview with a great outfit and perfect accessories.
So what jewelry does one wear to a job interview? Depends on your preferred ensemble the experts say, but it’s always best to keep the heavy stuff away for weddings and to opt for a simple and elegant look. Use jewelry to accentuate you and your outfit and not to overpower.
Go west
If you choose to wear western formals for an interview, then the best option, as Baroda-based jewelry designer Eesha Zaveri tells us, is to choose colorful but minimalist jewelry. “For work, if I am in formals which are usually classic and plain colors, I prefer to add color with a stud or even a smaller dangler,” says the acclaimed jewelry expert whose gorgeous baubles have been worn by several Bollywood personalities including Jacqueline Fernandes, Sonakshi Sinha and many more. So if you choose a classic white shirt with a pair of navy blue trousers then choose a pair of turquoise-blue studs and a matching statement ring to add that little pop of color. Add a pair of navy blue ballet shoes or navy blue pumps, depending on your comfort-level with heels, and walk tall.
Zaveri who works with silver and semi-precious stones advises us to opt for classic silver designs to wear with our more traditional outfits. “If in a kurta, then I love wearing my antique silver jewelry. The jhumka is the most beautiful, elegant piece of jewelry one can find and can never look out of place.” Choose a bright green kurta with an asymmetrical hem and long sleeves; team the kurta with a pair of fitted black trousers or indigo leggings and low-heeled black pumps. Accessorize your ethnic ensemble with a pair of small to medium-size silver jhumkas. The trick is to choose something that complements your face without overpowering it. Try on different sizes when shopping for earrings and choose one that you are comfortable wearing for long periods of time for work.
The color code
Zaveri’s talks about her favorite colors for the season: “I think for winter, colors like marsala, rose quartz and even amethyst are fun to wear.” You could also choose to play up metallic accents with a large-dial silver watch and small silver hoops and a silver nose-ring for an ethnic ensemble. For a more contemporary look, always choose a timeless diamond-stud nose-ring which will look wonderful with both traditional and modern interview outfits.
